I’ll start off by saying I had no idea what to expect or anticipate for this weekend. Not only that but going into the weekend I was already feeling massively underprepared for this event. First I’ll tell you a little about the event, then I’ll tell you why I was underprepared.

Parkcrest on Mission Weekend was designed as a way to get people in the church to be the Church. People who aren’t involved or want to find some other way of getting involved. We rented out the Legion Hall next door to our Campus and had a Missions faire inside. Broken into 3 categories; City, Church, and World. On one side of the room all of the city organizations we support and partner with had info booths set up. In the middle a bunch of areas inside the church that we need volunteers had booths. And you’ve probably guessed it by now, but on the other side of the room all of the international mission trips for this coming up years were represented by an info booth.

Here’s where my underpreparement comes in. About a week and a half ago, Rachel asks me to lead a trip to Poland. I need time to make a decision, she says I have a couple days because of the Parkcrest on Mission weekend. Last Sunday night I sat with my simple message “I’m in for Poland” on my phone waiting for me to push send for at least a half hour. I met with Rachel a couple days later got details, chose a date for the trip, had the dates I picked turn out to be already taken, picked another set of dates. Had 700%* less time to prepare an idea for information booth. It turned out well though. On Saturday as I’m setting up I get help decorating from a friend and she made it look a lot nicer than what I had had.

Well, I got a decent amount of interest in my trip. Ten people wrote on the sign up sheet, several more took info flyers. I’m hoping most of them show up to the informational meeting on February 12.

Oh, and in case you haven’t figured it out yet. I’m leading a trip to Poland this August. We are going around the 2nd or 3rd and returning home on the 13th or 14th. Cost is $2500, and I may still try to recruit you.
